I am ‘Julio Adama’ in a Nitrozac cartoon

Being portrayed in a web or newspaper comic is a gas. This has happened to me once or twice, but the latest instance is the ultimate.

Today’s “Joy of Tech” comic by the famed “Nitrozac” shows how top national technology journalists might dress for a sci-fi convention.

There they all are: Veronica “Inara” Belmont, Leo Laporte as “Captain LeoLaKirk,” Andy Ihnatko as “Obi-Wan Ihnatko,” John Gruber as “Gruber Fett,” David Pogue as “Doctor Pogue,” Robert Scoble as “Luke Scoblewalker” and Walt Mossberg as (of course) “Walt Mossborg.”

And, lo, there’s…Commander Julio Adama. This is awesome on so many levels:

  • I’m in lofty tech-journalist company on the amazingly intricate comic panel.
  • I am a @nitrozac megafan, so starring in one of her comics (for the second time!) is a thrill.
  • I’m a huge sci-fi nerd, and “Battlestar Galactica” (the new one, not the old one) is one of my all-time favorite shows. “Frack” is my preferred, all-purpose expletive.
  • Edward James Olmos is one of my favorite actors (and a fellow Latino), so stepping into one of his most famous roles (at least virtually) is an honor.
  • Now I get to kill me some Cylons. You are toast(ers)! So say we all.

This made my day. Thanks. (Click the panel below for a better look.)
